GMO generational manifestation of a changing image started ten years ago that is perpetually morphing into a new visual entity.
Leigh Anne Lester was born in 1966 in Louisiana, studied at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated from University of Texas in San Antonio in 1993. Her work has been nationally exhibited, and she received $50,000 for the 2011 Hunting Prize Award for painting and drawing. She has had solo exhibitions at grayDUCK gallery, Austin; Artpace, San Antonio; International Museum of Surgical Science, Chicago; Houston Arts Alliance Gallery, Houston; McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas; Lawndale Art Center, Houston; Conduit Gallery, Dallas; Institute of Texan Cultures, San Antonio, and Southwest School of Art and Craft, in San Antonio. She has also received a grant from the Artist Foundation in San Antonio, and attended residencies at Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien. Her work is in the permanent collections of Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and UTSA. For 19 years, she co-ran cactus bra SPACE, which helped launch many of Texas’ most recognized artists. Leigh Anne Lester lives and works in San Antonio, Texas.
