ARTIST STATEMENT
"I have been working with textiles as my art form for over 50 years, I use what has been referred to as “women’s work” to express contemporary themes, study women’s issues and address current events. During the last eleven years, I have been concentrating on one of a kind embroidered works. My focus is narrative, to tell a story, whether it is portraying the personal with my self portraits, representing family stories, or confronting political and environmental issues of the day. I design and hand-stitch each piece using a simple satin stitch with cotton embroidery floss on linen. The image is of primary importance and together with my strong use of color, it tells the story I want to convey."
