AN ONLINE GALLERY OF PAINTINGS BY PAULY TAMEZ
Pauly Tamez paints his best work en plein air through a lens all his own. He captures the colors, the vibrancy and aliveness of a place. He paints not what he sees, but what he knows of places where his soul connects. His vision is for the natural scene he is part of to become part of the soul of each painting. Join us in celebrating this singular vision of Pauly Tamez oil paintings of the Texas landscape.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
"My paintings are an impressionist view of the landscape and flora of Texas. I focus on color, light, and shadow, and I spend hours observing the colors of the sky...the way it constantly changes, from sunrise to sunset. I am fascinated with the Northern sky at sunset and the southern sky at sunrise. I enjoy the light the sun creates on the ground when it's low on the horizon.
I also study bodies of water–the reflections, as well as shadows and light atop and beneath the surface. I love to paint moving water, and capture the way it flows over rocks. The many creeks and rivers of Texas allow me to observe and paint water at different levels, flowing slowly in shallow creeks or cascading quickly over limestone shelves.
I have been greatly influenced by my mentors David Caton and the late Bill Zaner, both accomplished Texas painters. I am also influenced by artists such as Frederick Church, Mark Johnson Heade, Porfirio Salinas, and Julian Onderdonk. The latter two also painted the Texas Hill Country."
