ARTIST STATEMENT
"Light has always been an important concept in my work. I continue my exploration of light and reflection in my choice of the glass beads used on the surface of the ongoing series of oil paintings on canvas that I have created since 2000. The tiny and perfectly round clear glass beads reflect the light shown on them encouraging the viewer to see different perspectives. As an artist I have been influenced by the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi which celebrates the beauty of the rustic and unpolished as well as the spare aesthetic of Zen. My work is a meditative practice based on my observations and reflections on nature."
